Each USCG Engineering license's exam is composed of different modules. The modules you will need to study depends on the raise in grade and what type of propulsion you are testing for. Check with the coast guard to determine which sections you should be studying. You should also check to see if you can upgrade without testing. This seems to be possible depending on the date you received your current license and depending on what raise in grade you are applying for.
