QMED OILER

Mariner Advancement QMED (Qualified Member of the Engine Department) is examination preparation software containing 731 Engineering General questions, 568 Engineering Safety questions, 227 Motors / Aux Boilers questions, and 373 steam plant questions.  All USCG Illustrations are included in the software.  All questions have been hand picked from the thousands of USCG Engineering  Questions to minimize study load yet provide the study material necessary to pass the USCG multiple choice exams.  All USCG Illustrations are included in the software and are attached to each question for easy reference. Version 2.0 contains new features such as better search utilities, the tag question screen, ability to display the questions and illustrations on the screen at the same time, supports more screen resolutions and is now compatible with Norton 2010 antivirus.

You can now open a file search menu and display all U.S.C.G. images as thumbnails when searching for illustrations.  You no longer have to search illustrations and text in each section separately, the program does this for you and lets the user know how many matches were found in each section.

The new tag question feature allows you to tag a question and then recall all tagged questions from the tagged question menu. This makes it easy to mark difficult questions and return to them for review.

Some of our customers reported they found some questions difficult to answer because they needed to see the illustration and question in a juxtaposition.  Our illustration window now is supplied with a slide bar that allows you to very the opacity of the illustration thereby seeing through it straight to the question.

The flash drive also contains an Engineering Resources folder that includes U.S. Navy training manuals.  These are in PDF format and include Damage Controlman, Engineman, Fireman, Machinary Repairman, Introduction to Electrical, Introduction to Generators, Tools, and Fluid Power.  Many of the coast guard questions come from these manuals.

USCG Administered QMED OILER Exams

The USCG generates an exam  from a question bank consisting of thousands of questions.  Only two modules are required for QMED OILER,  Environmental and Safety Module and the Oiler Module.  The Oiler Module is made up of questions from the motors and steam sections.  See the chart below for specific USCG exam requirements.  Contact USCG to receive an evaluation for testing and information on other requirements for obtaining this Merchant Mariner License.
