Able Seaman - Lifeboatman 2.1

Mariner Advancement Able Seaman exam with Lifeboatman  is examination preparation software for the AB, AB unlimited,  and Lifeboatman. Our software contains 1029 Rules of the Road questions, 507 Deck General questions, 165 Navigation General questions and  597 Deck Safety, Survival Craft and Lifeboatman questions.   All questions have been hand picked from the thousands of USCG Deck Questions to minimize study load yet provide the study material necessary to pass the USCG multiple choice exams.  All USCG Illustrations are included in the software and are attached to each question for easy reference.  See our Products page for screen shots and waranty information.

Version 2.0 contains new features such as better search utilities, the tag question screen, ability to display the questions and illustrations on the screen at the same time, supports more screen resolutions and is now compatible with Norton 2010 antivirus.

You can now open a file search menu and display all U.S.C.G. images as thumbnails when searching for illustrations.  You no longer have to search illustrations and text in each section separately, the program does this for you and lets the user know how many matches were found in each section.

The new tag question feature allows you to tag a question and then recall all tagged questions from the tagged question menu. This makes it easy to mark difficult questions and return to them for review.

Some of our customers reported they found some questions difficult to answer because they needed to see the illustration and question in a juxtaposition.  Our illustration window now is supplied with a slide bar that allows you to very the opacity of the illustration thereby seeing through it straight to the question.   

Also on the flash drive is a Deck Resources folder which contains several Naval Training Manuals in PDF format such as, Seaman, Damage Control, Lookout, Quartermaster, and US Navy nautical skills course.

USCG Administered AB Exams

The USCG generates an AB exam consisting of three modules.   Deck General and Navigation General is one module and Deck Safety and Rules of the Road is another module.  The third module is either Lifeboats and Survival Craft or just Survival Craft depending on which AB certificate you are testing for.  Lifeboats and Survival Craft are combined into one module for AB unlimited.  If you are testing for AB limited than your third module will only consist of survival craft questions without the lifeboat questions.  Each of the three modules listed are 50 question tests that require 70% to pass.  See the chart below for specific USCG exam requirements.  You will also be required to tie a series of knots.  See the  U.S.C.G. deck_and_engineering_guide  under AB exam requirements for knot tying requirements. Contact USCG to receive an evaluation for testing and information on other requirements for obtaining this Merchant Mariner Document.
