These are the training charts used in the Mariner Advancement Software and are the charts you will see on your USCG exam. These charts are for training purposes only, not intended for navigation. You will need one set of these for chart plotting.

Weems & Plath Protractor Triangle

Weems & Plath Protractor Triangle 7-3/4" x 11"

Often used in a combination of two, Weems and Plath Protractor Triangle provides a straightforward method of plotting and performing chart work. Each triangle is inscribed with black markings. The protractor scale on the triangle can aid in drawing a bearing line on a chart, and the 90° angle is helpful when determining lines of position. You will need at least one of these for chart plotting but two is recommended.

This sturdy 12-inch (30.48cm) parallel rule with brushed aluminum arms is inscribed with a protractor scale. It is used to plot direction on a nautical chart from any convenient meridian or compass rose. The two straight-edged rules are connected to maintain the same angle. By walking the rules across the chart and securely holding down the non-moving rule, you can effectively plot a course.
